Files are stored using professional cloud storage infrastructure, with Wasabi S3 providing the primary object storage behind the service. At the time of writing this, our main servers are located in Dallas, Texas.
Nextcloud provides the interface your team uses to organize, sync, share, and manage those files.
-
No. You can use Hosted Hughey Drive entirely through a web browser.
For the best experience, you can also install the Nextcloud desktop or mobile apps to sync files directly with your computers and devices.
-
Yes.
There are currently no per-user fees, so you can add the people your team needs without paying for another seat every time someone joins a project.
Permissions can also be configured so different users only see the folders and projects they should have access to.

Hughey Drive is built on Nextcloud, a free and open-source file storage and collaboration platform.
Nextcloud is the software your team interacts with, while paid cloud servers and S3 object storage provide the infrastructure that actually runs the service and stores your files. Hughey House handles the setup, maintenance, updates, configuration, permissions, troubleshooting, and day-to-day administration.
Think of it a little like WordPress: the software itself can be free, but the servers, storage, backups, and work required to reliably run it are not.
You’re paying for the hosted infrastructure and managed service—not a license to Nextcloud.
-
Absolutely.
If you’re comfortable managing Linux servers, databases, web servers, SSL certificates, object storage, backups, updates, security, and troubleshooting, you can build your own Nextcloud installation.
Hosted Hughey Drive is for teams that would rather not make that their job.
